This illustrated edition of George Eliot's fourth novel was published by the Reader's Digest in 1986 and forms part of the World's Best Reading series of collectible books. This hardcover book is designed with the durable and elegant look typical of the series and features illustrations in a woodcut style by American artist, David Frampton. The cover's colour palette of tobacco brown and forest green with gold lettering on the spine, along with the rich sepia toned illustrations throughout the book enhance the rural feel of setting and atmosphere.
The book is in very good condition both inside and out with no markings apart from a small pen mark to the edge of a flyleaf page - please see picture. This edition includes an afterword by E.S Dallas and comes complete with an informative four page leaflet from the publisher which provides further context on the life and times of this wonderful author.
