Robinson Crusoe

by Daniel Defoe

Published by the Folio Society, 1972, illustrated with the linocuts of John Lawrence

This is a really lovely 1972 Folio Society edition of Robinson Crusoe, featuring the wonderful linocut illustrations of John Lawrence. The book is bound with vibrant, burnt orange, cloth-covered boards and has sprayed black top edges to match Lawrence's striking cover design -  the more you look at this design, the more of Crusoe's story appears.

The intricate patterns and bold contrast of orange and black add to the tactile, artisan feel of this edition: the production values of this book are characteristic of the Folio Society's attention to detail and craftsmanship at this time in its history. This book is in excellent condition, with no signs of wear or damage of any kind. The pages are bright, clean and unmarked  and the binding is tight. It has a sturdy protective slipcase in good condition apart from two marks on the back (visible in photo 12).

This classic tale of survival and adventure is presented here as  a wonderful example of mid century Folio Society production values. It's condition, along with the exquisite linocuts by John Lawrence, make it a perfect gift for any booklover or collector.

As with all our books, it will be shipped with care to ensure that it arrives in excellent condition. Please get in touch if you would like to upgrade to expedited shipping or have any other questions.
